Choose a tool for fractions, averages, percentages or roots. Follow the calculation steps where available and compare the relevant tools below. Decimal answers may be rounded; input limits and assumptions are explained on each page.

About

Start with the quantity you already know. Percentage modes solve for part, whole or change; averages split mean from median when outliers matter; fractions stay as improper results unless you convert. Each calculator states its rounding and rejection rules on the page.

Choose the operation, not a similar-sounding name

Arithmetic average and a choice of arithmetic, geometric or harmonic means are different tasks. A GCF tool with list input also differs from a small fixed set of integer fields. Follow the page’s input rules, especially for zeros, negatives and decimal separators.

Move from arithmetic to equations and matrices

Use a quadratic solver for a second-degree equation, matrix multiplication for a product of compatible matrices, or a determinant tool for a square matrix. These operations require different data structures; a generic scientific expression is not a substitute for every solver.

Check exact and approximate outputs

Reduced fractions and supported integer calculations can be exact, while roots, statistical summaries and decimal outputs may be rounded. Keep the original inputs when checking an answer and distinguish a displayed approximation from the underlying mathematical value.
