Construction Calculators
24 calculators
Estimate concrete volume, brick counts, flooring and other construction materials from your measurements. Some tools include the waste allowance you enter; check each result’s assumptions before adding more. These estimates do not establish structural safety or building-code compliance.
- Brick Calculator Calculate how many bricks or blocks a wall needs, including mortar joints and waste.
- Carpet Calculator Estimate the carpet area and cost for a room, including waste and padding.
- Concrete Slab Calculator Estimate concrete volume and bag count for a rectangular slab or pad.
- Concrete Steps Calculator Estimate concrete for exterior steps from the rise, tread, width and slab thickness; see the computed riser height.
- Curtain Calculator Calculate fabric width, panel size and rod length for curtains with any fullness.
- Deck Board Calculator Estimate 16 ft deck board quantities from deck dimensions, board width and direction.
- Drywall Calculator Calculate how many sheets of drywall a room needs, plus joint compound, tape and screws.
- Electric Fence Calculator Calculate the wire, posts and energizer rating needed for an electric fence.
- Fence Post Calculator Estimate posts, rails and pickets for the remaining fence sections. Enter their combined length, excluding gate openings; each gate adds two posts.
- Fence Calculator Calculate the posts, rails and pickets needed for a fence run.
- Gravel Calculator Calculate how much gravel, crushed stone or aggregate a driveway or path needs.
- R-Value Calculator Calculate the R-value of a wall or roof build-up from the thickness and conductivity of each layer.
- Lumber Calculator Calculate board feet and the cost of lumber for a project.
- Mulch Calculator Calculate how many bags or cubic yards of mulch a garden bed needs.
- Paint Calculator Calculate how much paint a surface needs from its area, coats and paint coverage.
- Paint Room Calculator Calculate how much paint it takes to paint a whole room, including walls and ceiling.
- Roof Pitch Calculator Convert roof rise and run into pitch, angle, slope percentage and rafter length.
- Roofing Calculator Calculate the number of roofing squares, bundles of shingles and underlayment a roof needs.
- Slope and Grade Calculator Convert a rise and run into slope percentage, ratio, angle and the required pipe fall.
- Sod Calculator Measure a lawn and get the sod area, pallets and rolls to order, plus an estimated cost.
- Soil Calculator Work out how much topsoil, potting mix or garden soil a bed or raised planter needs.
- Square Footage Calculator Calculate the area of a room or house footprint in square feet, yards and metres.
- Staircase Calculator Estimate staircase risers and total run, with an illustrative dimension check based on entered rise and tread.
- Wallpaper Calculator The cut-drop model uses actual roll width and length. Room mode rounds each of four walls separately at corners. Each full-height drop includes trim and is rounded to a straight pattern repeat; waste is added to drop count before rounding rolls.

Choose a construction calculator from the shape and material you need to measure. Area, volume, surface coverage and material count use different inputs. Work from measured dimensions first, then account for waste, packaging and the assumptions shown on the individual tool.
Turn dimensions into area and volume
Use square footage for a measured surface, concrete for a pour volume and gravel for a depth across an area. A staircase calculation uses rise and run rather than a simple floor-area multiplication.
Estimate coverage and component counts
Paint, drywall, roofing and fencing depend on product coverage, layout or spacing. Check whether openings are deducted and whether the output already contains a waste allowance before adding one again.
Verify the design before ordering
Quantity estimates do not establish structural capacity, code compliance or a safe installation method. Confirm the design and product specifications independently, especially where a result affects loads, access, wiring or work at height.
