Everyday Calculators

21 calculators

The miscellaneous daily estimates that do not belong anywhere else: ages and intervals, aspect ratios, DPI and PPI, large-number intuition and rough carbon footprints. Where an estimate depends on a regional factor such as grid intensity or a postal zone, the page states the default it applies.

About

Everyday tasks can share the word calculator while needing very different inputs. Age uses calendar dates, screen dimensions use a geometric relationship, and a unit-price comparison uses a quantity and cost. Start from the question you need to answer rather than from the longest result list.

Work with dates, time and recorded activity

Use age for completed calendar years and remaining months and days. Typing speed uses characters, errors and elapsed time; screen-time totals instead combine repeated use. Each rate depends on a different denominator.

Compare dimensions and everyday expenses

Use aspect ratio and screen size for display geometry, a tip tool for a bill scenario, or unit price to compare packages in the same quantity unit. Keep a model’s assumptions distinct from a measured property.

Choose a more specific category when needed

The full directory also groups tools by finance, health, construction and other tasks. If a result affects a specialist decision, open the relevant tool’s method and limitations instead of relying on a general category label.
