Tabletop and settings arithmetic: dice notation and probability, character ability scores, encounter budgeting, sensitivity conversion and coin-flip simulation. Random results come from your device's pseudo-random generator, which is fine for play and not suitable for anything where money or fairness depends on it.

About

Gaming tools include random generators, probability models and game-specific arithmetic. A simulated outcome is not an exact probability, and a game-stat calculation depends on a particular ruleset. Choose the tool that matches the event, notation or version you are working with.

Distinguish a random result from its probability

Dice notation tools interpret an expression, while a dice roller or coin flip produces a sampled outcome. Probability calculators instead apply assumptions about the events and rules; previous simulated outcomes do not force the next result.

Use the relevant game or grouping rules

Character and encounter tools apply a game model, damage tools use their documented assumptions, and team generators distribute a supplied list. Similar-looking scores across different rulesets should not be compared as if they were the same statistic.

Read the version and scope

Check the rules, options and assumptions displayed by the tool. Randomizers are for ordinary play and organization; a simulated sequence or simplified odds model does not guarantee a real-game result or a fair external draw.
