DIY and Craft Calculators
15 calculators
Materials and yardage for making things: 3D-print cost and filament, candle wax and fragrance ratios, crochet and cross-stitch counts, fabric and thread requirements. Consumption rates vary by printer, hook tension and fabric width, so the first project is always the least accurate one.
- 3D Printing Cost Calculator Work out the material, electricity and failure cost of a 3D print before you start it.
- Candle Making Calculator Calculate wax, fragrance and wick quantities for a batch of candles.
- Circle Skirt Calculator Calculate a full, three-quarter, half or quarter circle skirt waist radius and conservative fabric layout.
- Crochet Calculator Calculate crochet gauge, foundation chains, rows and approximate stitch count from a swatch and project size.
- Cross Stitch Calculator Calculate cross-stitch design size, cut fabric dimensions and total stitch count from fabric count and margin.
- Embroidery Thread Calculator Estimate how much embroidery floss a design needs and how many skeins to buy.
- Epoxy Resin Coating Calculator Calculate resin and hardener quantities for coating a surface at a given thickness.
- Fabric Calculator Estimate how much fabric a sewing project needs for your size and fabric width.
- Knitting Calculator Calculate knitting cast-on stitches and rows from your swatch, then compare width at the pattern gauge.
- Macramé Cord Calculator Work out how much macramé cord a project needs, including the length per strand.
- Paint Color Mixer Calculator Scale a paint mixing recipe to any batch size, keeping the proportions exact.
- Picture Frame Calculator Work out frame moulding length, glass size and mat opening for any artwork.
- Quilt Calculator Calculate how many blocks, how much fabric and how much binding a quilt needs.
- Casting Resin Calculator Calculate the resin volume a mould needs and split it into parts A and B.
- Yarn Calculator This is a rough planning range based on Lion Brand’s published yardage chart for common projects and yarn-weight classes.

Craft estimates begin with finished dimensions, a pattern or a measured sample. Material quantities may also need seam allowances, gauge, shrinkage or a mixing ratio. Choose a tool for the actual project step rather than assuming that every area or length estimate includes those allowances.
Plan textile quantities and layouts
Fabric and skirt tools use dimensions and cutting assumptions. Yarn and knitting estimates depend on gauge or a sample, so the same finished size can require different quantities with another material or stitch pattern.
Estimate casting, prints and framed work
Resin and epoxy tools connect volume with a product ratio or density assumption. Print-cost tools combine material and operating inputs, while frame and quilt tools use their own layout or border dimensions.
Check the pattern and product instructions
Verify usable material width, gauge, allowances and the manufacturer’s mixing or curing directions. A quantity estimate cannot establish chemical compatibility, a safe handling process or the structural performance of a finished item.
