About this calculator

Enter a decimal expression using +, −, ×, ÷, remainder (%), powers and parentheses. The parser rejects incomplete or invalid expressions; % means remainder, not percentage.

Worked example

calculated with the default values below

Expression (12 + 8) * 3 - 10 / 2 · Round the answer to 2 places Answer 55.000000 · Rounded answer 55.00 · Expression evaluated (12 + 8) * 3 - 10 / 2 · Operations entered 4 · Brackets opened 1 · Answer is a whole number Yes — a whole number

Formula and variables

v = term {(+ | −) term}; term = unary {(× | ÷ | %) unary}; unary = (−) atom ^ unary

v
evaluated result
term
product-level subexpression
unary
signed power
k
rounding decimals, 0–12
atom
number or parenthesized expression

Recursive-descent parser; precedence: parentheses → ^ (right-associative) → unary sign → × ÷ % → + −. Only decimal numbers are supported; rounded uses k fixed decimals.

Frequently asked questions

How is the entered expression evaluated and rounded?

The parser applies parentheses, exponents, multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Its default expression is (12 + 8) × 3 − 10 ÷ 2, which equals 55. It rounds only the final numeric result for the separate rounded output.
