About this calculator

This uses the NFL passer-rating formula, with its four components capped from 0 to 2.375. Enter one passing stat line; completions cannot exceed attempts, and passing touchdowns cannot exceed completions.

Worked example

calculated with the default values below

Completions 24 · Pass attempts 36 · Passing yards 285 · Touchdown passes 3 · Interceptions 1 Passer rating 106.8 · Completion percentage 66.7 % · Yards per attempt 7.92 yd · Touchdown rate 8.33 % · Interception rate 2.78 %

Formula and variables

R = (f1 + f2 + f3 + f4) ÷ 6 × 100; f1 = clamp((C ÷ a − 0.3) × 5), f2 = clamp((Y ÷ a − 3) × 0.25), f3 = clamp(T ÷ a × 20), f4 = clamp(2.375 − I ÷ a × 25); f1, f2, f3, f4 ∈ [0, 2.375]

Frequently asked questions

Which passing stats are valid inputs?

This is the NFL passer-rating formula. Completions must not exceed attempts; passing touchdowns must not exceed completions; and touchdowns plus interceptions cannot exceed attempts. The calculator rejects zero attempts because a rating cannot be computed from an empty passing line.
