Formula and variables
n = ceil(G × a ÷ s); C = n × P
- n
- Pizzas needed
- G
- Guests

a = 2/3/4 (light/normal/heavy); rounded up; total area = n × π(d÷2)².
Frequently asked questions
Why does the calculator assume three slices per average adult?
The appetite select sets slices per person: light 2, average 3, heavy 4, and the tool rounds pizzas up with Math.ceil so you never fall short. For 20 average guests that is 60 slices, or 8 pizzas at 8 slices each, even though 7.5 would be enough mathematically. Total pizza area is then 8 times pi times 7 squared, about 1,230 sq in, and cost per person is the total divided by guests whether or not the last pizza is finished.
