About this calculator
Each letter carries a digit in the Pythagorean system, so a name can be reduced to an expression number from all letters, a soul urge from the vowels and a personality number from the consonants. The arithmetic is fixed, so a name always yields the same three numbers.

Pythagorean values a–i = 1–9 repeating; the Chaldean table differs (f=8, o=7, p=8, q=1 …) and never uses 9; non-letters are ignored; birth number = count of letters.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the soul urge number use only the vowels of my name?
The soul urge number is built from just the vowel letters, on the idea that vowels carry the inner self, while the personality number uses only consonants and the expression number uses every letter. Switching to the Chaldean table changes the digit behind each letter, so Alexandra can yield a different expression number under that system than under Pythagorean.
