Hours (h)
About this calculator
Timesheets and invoices routinely need minutes expressed as decimal hours, where 30 minutes is 0.5 rather than 0.3. This converter shows both representations so the right one is always to hand.
Worked example
calculated with the default values below
Minutes 135 min Hours 2.2500 h · Hours and minutes 2h 15m · Seconds 8,100 s · Decimal hours 2.2500 h · Days 0.0938 days
Method and assumptions
h = min ÷ 60; s = min × 60; d = h ÷ 24 Formats the absolute hour and minute components, then applies one sign to the full duration (for example, −90 min → −1h 30m). Timesheets and invoices routinely need minutes expressed as decimal hours, where 30 minutes is 0.5 rather than 0.3. This converter shows both representations so the right one is always to hand. Frequently asked questions
Why does the decimal hours value show 2.25 instead of 2.3 for 135 minutes?
The tool divides minutes by 60 to get decimal hours, so 135 minutes is exactly 2.25 hours, not 2.3, because the 15 leftover minutes are a quarter of an hour. It also shows the same span as 2h 15m using whole hours plus the rounded remainder, and as 8100 seconds, 135 times 60. Timesheets want the 2.25 decimal form for multiplying by an hourly rate, while the hours-and-minutes text is what you say out loud.
Which inputs and limits apply to Minutes to Hours Converter?
